Collette Rawnsley

Collette Rawnsley is a counsel in Shearman & Sterling’s London and Brussels offices. She advises clients on a wide array of contentious and non-contentious EU and UK competition law issues. Her work focuses primarily on abuse of dominance cases, cartels and competition litigation, with some merger control. She also advises on dawn raid procedures, and conducts internal antitrust audits and self-assessments. Collette works for a number of high profile clients, particularly in the hi-tech sector, and is involved in some of the leading competition cases concerning the intersection of intellectual property rights and competition law. Her experience covers a wide range of sectors, including aviation, biotechnology, broadcasting, consumer goods, chemicals, financial services, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, and telecommunications. Prior to joining Shearman & Sterling, Collette was a Senior Associate in a leading European antitrust practice. Previously, Collette was the Senior Reféréndaire at the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT), where she assisted in the management and resolution of cases. Whilst at the CAT, Collette gained an in-depth experience of the UK competition law enforcement regime and she was involved in numerous cases, including: appeals against the Office of Fair Trading’s (OFT’s) decisions in respect of collusive tendering, MasterCard interchange fees, and replica football kits; appeals against Ofcom’s decisions concerning GSM Gateway services, RBS backhaul circuits, and CPS Save; the collective representative damages action by the Consumers’ Association against JJB Sports; and follow-on damages claims relating to the European Commission’s vitamins cartel decision.
